Tussie~Mussie

All stitches are cross stitch. Model was stitched with Rainbow Gallery Splendor silk floss: #S1108 Dark Cornflower - dmc equivalent #792 and #S969 Lt. Cornflower - dmc equivalent #794 'Tussie-Mussie' is a Victorian era term for a small bouquet of flowers, sometimes called a nosegay. This pattern was inspired by one of the kindest ladies that I've ever known. Her name was Hazel and she taught Cotillion, ballroom dancing, for many years. Those who had the pleasure of being her students still remember her fondly. Hazel was known for her intricate couples formations for dance exhibitions, this design attempts to capture the movement of her choreography. I can't think of those Cotillion days without seeing the wrist corsages or the 'Tussie-Mussies' pinned to dresses.
