About the Design:
The stitch pattern for these socks is more commonly referred to as "Eye of Partridge", and is used in a solid color on heels.
It's actually a tweed stitch pattern, of French origin, according to Barbara Walker's A Treasury of Knitting Patterns.
When used throughout the entire sock, the resultant fabric is plush and cozy. The slipped stitch pattern may be a little slow-going, but the result is worth it!
I've worked this pattern in 2 weights of yarn, worsted and chunky, for warm and warmer-yet socks!
I used Kraemer Yarns Naturally Nazareth and Mauch Chunky for the samples.
