It is a black and white symbol pattern. This pattern does have the background as stitched. To save time or make it easier to stitch you can stitch on a similar coloured fabric if you can find one, instead of stitching all the background, or stitch on white and maybe use that colour in a matte border when framing. The background is easy to remove it is all the one colour.
