Louise Chappuis 1844

I am so pleased to introducing Louise Chappuis 1844, a French Reproduction Sampler. Since I have no other information on Louise other than her name and date it wasn't possible to find out more about her. I did find one Louise Chappuis on Ancestry, born in 1832. That would be about right for her to be stitching an intricate sampler like this when she was 12 years old. But there is no way to know for sure. One thing I do know for sure is that Louise loved color! She also wasn't afraid to change up colors when she needed to. You will find many places in the borders where the colors are not consistent. I assume this is because she ran out of the colors she had been using. The model is stitched on 40 ct Old Stationary by Seraphim Hand-dyed Fabrics using one strand of the called for silk floss over two linen threads. Stitches used in this sampler are cross stitch and four-sided stitch. Stitch Count: 283 x 330
