Mary Jenkins, 1772, a Welsh sampler

Mary Jenkins is an early Welsh sampler from the 18th century. Mary helpfully stitched her birthday, age and year of completing her work on her sampler. It is an unusual sampler, featuring both features of Welsh samplers, and others typical of Scottish samplers. The sampler is stitched using full cross stitch, quarter stitches (one over one), eyelets and a little satin stitch The pattern includes more about what I have found about the story of Mary and her sampler, as well as providing the full colour pattern and the explaination of the speciality stitches. It is produced in conjunction with the Sampler's Guild.
